Melexis Renault Team was created in 2007 according to an agreement signed between Renault Nissan Bulgaria, Melexis and Rumen Dunev.

The newly established Renault Nissan branch wants to boost its promotion in the country and in this respect decided to involve itself in Rally and Track racing in Bulgaria, a decision and program supported by Renault Sport Technologies (Paris). The partners of Renault in this enterprise are Bulavto (Renault Dacia official Dealer) and Michelin, the French giant tyres manufacturer.

Melexis, a Belgium Automotive fast growing company enters this program as Title Sponsor. Melexis has been sponsoring Rumen Dunev over the last years and was proud to win the title in Rally and Track in 2006. Melexis wants to work on its image as automotive leader in the country in order to attract highly qualified people for their Sofia production site. As part of Melexis Global Branding, Melexis Renault Team will support all their global activities. And at last, Melexis is happy to be partner of a constructor like Renault in this program and to benefit from this unique opportunity.

Rumen Dunev, an ambitious and experienced pilot for the S1600 car has all the qualities required to make the objective of the team become reality. Hristo Hirstov , an experienced and motivated navigator working with Rumen since years will make the difference.

Finally, all this winning elements put together, an agreement between
Laurent Bernard (Renault Nissan Bulgaria Director) Nicolas Treand (Melexis
Director), Rumen Dunev and Hristo Hirstov (drivers) was signed in November 2006.

Our targets for this year are clear, win the general championship in Rally and Track. Our team has been growing significantly over the last years and is now much more mature and ready to take up such a challenge.
